The Lion's Club Dental Clinic Expansion is a welcomed Arkona Project!
The Arkona Lion's Club is made up of community working together, individuals from all walks of life, volunteering with decades of service through the local Lions Club. Our goal is to assist experienced professionals who are serving our community that are dedicated to providing exceptional service. We do this by recognizing their needs and assisting in finding solutions.
The Medical and Dental Centre came to be part of our community in the early 1960's. We have appreciated and are incredibly fortunate to have known the care in service by some of the best Dr.'s and support staff over the years and continue to strive to keep the local medical centre providing care at such a level.
Dr. Robert Beattie, Dr. Wayne Johnson and Dr. Tom Wolder served the community of Arkona and it's surrounding area with Dr. Wolder eventually transferring to a new location in Strathroy and Dr. Beattie and Dr. Johnson continuing their practice until their chosen retirement dates. Following Dr. Johnson's retirement in 2016, Joanne Shepherd the centre's administrator tirelessly worked behind the scenes with the Lions Club to fill the very large shoes and huge hearts of the recently retired Doctors.

The Lion’s Club proudly introduced the medical team of Dr. Connor and Dr. Kristina Rice. Married and parents to two young children, the Dr. 's exceeded all expectations with the utilization of updated software, enabling swift results, as well as fostering stronger connections with their patients. When the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic arose, Dr. Connor and Dr. Kristina's proactive preparedness allowed them to transition their patient care to the virtual realm. Leveraging streaming and telephone appointments, they continued to provide quality medical services, ensuring the care of their patients during these trying times. In 2023, Dr. Connor and Dr. Kristina Rice embarked on a new chapter in their personal and professional lives. Their journey lead them to move from the area and expand both their family and medical careers.
The Arkona Lion's Club worked with the services of Blue Coast Primary Care – Recruitment & Retention to Lambton County to secure a family physician who promptly began accepting patients by the fall of 2023. Dr. Farah (Farahnaz Farzadfar) took on the coverage and rostered patients in the Lambton Shores, Middlesex and Huron County areas. Nurse Practitioner Sarah Nadeau joined the practice as a valued member of the caregiving team before her transition in March of 2024.
With the Dental Office expressing their need for more space the goal of the Lion's Board is to ensure that Arkona's Medical and Dental centre continue to meet the needs of the professionals that work there so that they can meet the increasing needs of the residents of Arkona. Therefore, we have decided to expand the building to accommodate those increasing needs.
The Arkona Lions Medical and Dental Centre operates as a non-profit organization.
